Gold Panning in Quebec
Beauce Quebec Canada
We were invited to do some gold panning in Beauceville, located in the Beauce Valley in Quebec.
We went with a club called the Goldminers of New England out of Athol, MA.
This was our first trip to Canada, and we really didn't have any idea what Canada was like.
The trip to Beauce, Quebec was very scenic, with lots of lush green valleys and rolling hills.
La Roche D' Or Campground
We had made reservations at a campground called, La Roche D'Or. We camped in our van.
La Roche D'Or is a very popular camping resort especially for RV's, and it seems that most of the RV's stay parked there all year long.
We lucked out getting a camping spot right by the Chaudiere River, and every morning the first thing we did was make coffee and pan for gold.
Shopping in Beauce
We had such a great time, but spent most of it driving around looking for gold panning spots. We really enjoyed the French cuisine, and viewing the scenic rolling landscapes.
Chaudiere River
We found a few flakes of gold by sluicing in the Chaudiere River, which runs right alongside the campground, but after making friends with a couple of the French locals, they invited us to their gold spot, and that is where we found the most gold.
